Greenwich Market

The Greenwich Market you see today was established in 1985, although a food market has stood near the site since as far back as 1700. Taking inspiration from the highly successful Camden Lock, the 'new' Greenwich Market largely sells arts and crafts items, with independent craftspeople setting up their stall every day of the week. This is a popular destination for locals and tourists, attracting over two million visitors a year. As well as jewellery and other crafts, you can pick up homewares and antiques at the market, and fill up on the fresh produce. Local cafes are also situated close to the market, so there are plenty of cheap eats available. What makes the Greenwich Market even more appealing is its setting. Greenwich is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and there is plenty of history and atmosphere to soak up. Greenwich Park offers spectacular views of East London and is also the site of the Royal Observatory, where Greenwich Mean Time is measured. Here, you can also easily get to the gigs and events at the O2 Arena at North Greenwich or test out Greenwich's own thriving nightlife.
