Good location, friendly staff, clean and tidy, acceptable bed comfort. Now the picky bit! Our triple room was in the basement and although clean had an unpleasant musty smell and was really too small for three people. Also, the bathroom facilities could do with a make-over. Overall it was just about acceptable for a budget, short stay. 2 nights would be a maximum recommended stay in the room we had.

We didn't miss anything at our stay for seven days at European Hotel. The staff are very friendly, helpful and flexible. The rooms are very clean. The English breakfast includes scrambled and fried eggs, beans, tomatoes, bacon, sausages and toast with orange jelly - all you need for a straight sightseeing day in London. The location of the hotel is very central, near Kings Cross. For this class of B&B this hotel is the best choice in London.

Small rooms but very clean. Very handy for station and close to city centre. Probably too small breakfast space and staffing for the amount of guests.

The hotel is basic but clean and nice. If you book a basic room it really means basic, we upgraded to an en-suite which was a lot nicer. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is good. Very close to King’s Cross and definitely good value for money.

Excellent location, nice and clean little rooms and good English breakfast with good coffee. Only the shower could be modernized.

The hotel was clean and quiet and although my room was very small it was comfortable. The en-suite shower was hot and powerful. The cooked breakfast was particularly good value. Good value for a cheap overnight in London.

The European Hotel isn't bad value for money. I only stayed there for one night and although we were in the basement room, it wasn't too bad. First impressions from the outside are very good. The inside is alright but maybe a little dated. Our room clearly suffered from age as the hinge on the wardrobe was broken, the draw in desk had fallen apart, the desk lamp didn't have a bulb in. But the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean, although a little small. The ceiling was a little stained and some of the furnishings had burn marks, probably from before the smoking ban. Saying this, our friend’s room didn't have anything wrong with it. The breakfast room again was a little small meaning having to wait for a table. Food was good though. We did notice a section of the hotel had some painters in so I assume they are currently freshening up certain rooms. Altogether for a cheap bed, it's not bad, providing you’re not planning to spend hours in the room.

Clean, basic accommodation for the price. Close to St. Pancras/King's Cross train stations so if you're coming from Heathrow you don't have to go too far with your bags.

The showers were horrid, the water had very little pressure and took forever to get even a bit warm. The toilet didn't flush half the time. We were there for 9 horrid nights, the only reason we did not move was because we couldn't get a room over new years. We were in a shared facilities 4th floor, used to having that but never this bad. The only plus, the staff were friendly and the rooms were always clean, breakfast was so so, the staff good.

I booked a little single with a shared bathroom and it was absolutely ideal for my purposes i.e. a bed for the night rather than lengthy train travel after a night out. The bed was very comfortable, I had everything I needed (even quite a nice view!). It's about a minute from Kings Cross tube which was very important as I was arriving late at night and I'm really glad I found it! You get what you pay for so the single rooms are very basic but all I needed was a bed. The staff were really lovely (and they were very happy to lend me a hairdryer as I’d forgotten mine) and breakfast was fine with loads of tea! If you're looking for a bit of luxury, then maybe you should look elsewhere, but for an extremely handy crash pad, this is the place!

Small room and extremely tiny bathroom (smallest shower I've ever seen!) but had expected that before going from other reviews and the fact that it's London. Breakfast wasn't up to much but for the small amount we were paying we didn't mind going elsewhere for breakfast, there were lots of coffee shops etc. nearby. Location is perfect; fairly secluded square but only about a 3 minute walk away from a major road and King’s Cross train and underground stations. We were only really using the room for sleeping and getting changed before going out in the evening and for this it was absolutely fine.

Good location, good breakfast, room very clean and nice, staff in the breakfast room were also very nice. Hotel is pretty much opposite King’s Cross! However the reception staff were very moody and unpleasant which is the only thing that I really didn't like about the place.

The hotel was exactly what we needed. A place to stay after a night out. It is very close to King's Cross Station. You get what you pay for. Would stay here again.

We got an en-suite twin room instead of non en-suite which was nice. Rooms were ok, cleaned every day, beds and linen very comfortable. We were worried about the quality of our door lock - a door chain would help. English breakfast was excellent and the service ladies were nice. There should be more continental options such as cheese and ham. European Hotel is definitely our future choice - good value for our money (55/night).
