The hotel is in a perfect area, just opposite King's Cross station. I stay here almost every time I come to London. The rooms are small but they are OK for 2 people. The only bad thing is that there is no lift there. So it wasn't good for me and my friend to carry the 32 kilo- luggage up to the top floor. So be prepared if you have heavy luggage. The staff were very nice as she suggested us to stay in the room (which has no ventilation) in the basement. However, we preferred the one on the top floor. Apart from this, everything is perfect

Clean, warm and comfortable. Really convenient for the train station and underground. Room smallish but perfectly adequate. Good breakfast gives you a good start to the day. Well recommended

Stayed for 8 weeks. Breakfast finishes at 9am on the dot with no exceptions of 9.01. Yuck breakfast at that. Small rooms. Very loud place and if you have a room on street you hear everything along with rooms above you. You hear them walking, flushing and creaking beds! You hear people walking up the stairs as well. All rooms have heavy doors and they all slam loudly. Kitchen staff and cleaners are very rude. They roughly made my bed every day and actually only cleaned it once a week and changed sheets once a week. After 8 weeks of staying there they still made me pay for a late checkout. In saying all of this, I overall find most of central London and London quite rude and below average in all areas of hospitality compared to Australia. Their bad food and service is few and far between

Basic, but very clean room, friendly personnel, English breakfast, hot water, and two minutes to King's Cross station. Good choice, would recommend to stay there

Stayed in room with small double bed and en suite. Room was clean and well presented, with tea making facilities and tv. Did not have breakfast so cannot comment on that. Mattress was on the thin side and I did not sleep well

I, and the friend I shared the room with, was happy with the location and the service at the hotel. However, there were a few things that we thought could be improved. In the room, there was no hook where you could hang your clothes and no bedside lamps. We also missed a shelf for the shower, with room for shampoo and the like. We would also have liked the breakfast to stop serving a little later on Saturdays. When we booked a taxi through the hotel for an early morning flight on the day of our return, we seemed to get some sort of black cab which we thought charged us an over-price on the journey. Apart from these remarks, we were happy with the facilities and the price for a central London hotel

The room clearly needed a maintenance, as few spots of the wall paper had been ripped off. TV remote controller should been replaced with new batteries

Our room is uncomfortable as it is filled with thick tobacco smell, which left by previous stayer. The smell nearly choked us and caused sleeping trouble at night. Complaint to the receptionist, no proper action taken

First impressions weren't good: narrow corridors, poor lighting in small, cramped room. But in fact the hotel was convienient and quiet, beds were comfortable, the room warm and the breakfast good

I have used this hotel many times now. It is very basic, but it is exactly what you need in central london and as for location, less than 400 metres from Kings Cross underground station

We booked this hotel for my boyfriends birthday and we were really chuffed with it. We arrived earlier than the 2pm curfew and were allowed entry into our room. The room was clean and the bed comfy. Very handy for the tube and to pop into London's City. Nice building and nice location. We never made breakfast so can't comment on the food. Will deffo come back :)

I forgot to add that the staff at the hotel, from the reception, the kitchen/dining room and the cleaner were all very friendly. The reception staff are also helpful

I had a lovely stay at the European Hotel. My room was nice and was cleaned every day and a fresh towel and soap was also provided each day. A full English breakfast was also included in the price. The food was well prepared and the dining room nice and clean. The location is great, I walked down Grays Inn Rd, each morning, into Holborn, Covent Garden and beyond, before getting a bus to other places, too far to walk. I could have got a bus from a stop close to the hotel, that would either connect me or take me to many parts of London, but I like to walk as much as I can. King's Cross and Paddington Stations are minutes away from the European Hotel, with Euston Station around a 10 minute walk. I have seen some good reviews and some bad reviews for this hotel. Many people nitpick, what they should remember is, the European Hotel is a budget hotel, and the price of a stay at the hotel, reflects that fact. Along with many other people, I am on a budget and to find a hotel such as the European, at a price I can afford is great. The fact that the hotel is in such a great location is a bonus. I will definately stay at the European Hotel again and I will recommend the hotel to others

Affordable accomodation very near Kings Cross and St Pancras stations. Good location and surprisingly quiet at night. Basic amenities but linen and room was clean. Ample breakfast with tea/coffee, baked beans, bacon, toast, poached or scrambled eggs, sausages

We stayed at the European Hotel near Kings Cross in London for three nights. We got a dirty loft (fire trap) room that smelled mouldy and moist with shared toilet and shower. In the daytime the room was incredibly warm (though it was November and freezing outside) and it was not possible to turn down the heat. At night it was extremely cold due to the heavy draft from the wall and window - and we did not feel like using the smelly blankets! We did not take off our shoes at all, because the floor carpet was very dirty and badly smelling to. The shared showers on the hall where disgusting. The only light in our room was a naked light ball hanging from the ceiling and the electric installations looked were doubtful. The only good thing was the clean sheets / towels and the location. We would not recommend this hotel

My two sons and I stayed for one night in a triple room with en suite shower. The triple room had a double and single bed - three singles would have suited us better but we managed. We all enjoyed our stay and found the facilities, although basic, were clean and served our purpose. The staff were friendly and helpful and the generous cooked breakfast set us up for the day. We would definitely stay there again for a short break and thought it good value for money. The location was excellent - a short walk from the station and having deposited our luggage, during our stay we were able to explore on foot to Oxford and Regent St and the British Museum, thereby saving tube fares. Convenient for food stores and we found a really good chippy on nearby Leigh St. After check-out we were able to leave our luggage on the premises until our evening train which was helpful. Some small improvements towards comfort would be welcome, eg hook on bathroom door, real milk instead of powdered in bedrooms, and one of those disposable complimentary shower caps would have been good, as I forgot to take one!

Had to walk up 4 flights of stairs to a room that recognised an enlarged cupboard, or even better a cell. The pipes at the back of my bed was the first thing to wake me up, God only knows where the water was going to or from. Walls were so thin I could hear everything in the next room and the room door was on a lock that all was needed to open it was a good shove. Don't get me started on the toilet, what was in the bottom of the bowl, I dread to think. Altogether not a very good experience

Very clean, good heating, good breakfast (a little heavy for me), but very, very Spartan accomodation. A little more "attention" to guests would not hurt. For example, my room was gloomy; the light was very low.

Room too small and very basic. Good location. Didn't like being in basement. Way out if there is a fire?
