Hospital Chapel of St Mary and St Thomas of Canterbury

This is the Hospital Chapel of St Mary and St Thomas of Canterbury. It’s a Grade II listed building and the oldest building in Ilford. It was set up in 1145 by Adelicia, an early Abbess of Barking Abbey.

Kenneth More Theatre

Here stands the Kenneth More Theatre, named after the well-loved British actor who died in 1982. He’s best-remembered for his appearances in the popular British movies Genevieve (1953), Doctor in the House (1954) for which he won a BAFTA award, and Reach for the Sky (1956). This is a brilliant local theatre and a wide range of groups perform here.
