Durham Castle was gorgeous and breakfast in the Great Hall each morning was idyllic. Keith was particularly kind and greeted me each day as I went in/out of the castle door. Thank you for a lovely stay! Only issue was the presence of many spiders in my room. But I guess they come with the castle

Really nice stay at Durham Castle. The rooms are big, comfortable, and the view over the cathedral is great

Good well equipped room at Durham Castle. Comfortable beds. Reception very helpful in aiding room selection appropriate to mobility level. Unfortunately from the window only a view of the internal areas. Some litter and other rubbish about, which detracts from the overall image. Could do with monitoring/clearing up. Superb breakfast, range and quality

Completely wonderful - quiet, cosy and comfortable. Warmest of welcomes and delicious breakfast. Bonus having a great fireworks display from our window (a wedding), being able to hear the cathedral bells, and enjoy reliving the past, my husband arrived as a student there 49 years ago

Our three nights' stay in Durham Castle was a wonderful experience, and one that was full of nostalgia after my S.C.R. membership and residency there 50 years ago. Despite the 74 steps up, the twin room J36 in the Junction was fine for us. Breakfast was good, especially as we ate in the marvellous Great Hall. All the stall were courteous and efficient. It is so good to be able to stay in such an amazing building and see how it continues to be used and looked after by university students and staff. May Castle continue to flourish

Durham Castle is an attractive, historic location. I didn't mind climbing three flights of stairs to get to my room, although some might. What I did mind was the lack of blackout curtains on the window, in my view an absolute necessity when strong lights are trained onto the castle during night time hours. On my second night there was a fault with one of these lights, such that it flashed on and off all night long, making sleep very difficult. I appreciate that the lights are the responsibility of the city council but it still detracted from the experience

Our stay at Durham Castle was wonderful! We had a great view of both the great hall and the cathedral. I would love to have stayed longer. Do be prepared to walk up many stairs though. Eating a good breakfast in the great hall was also a nice experience. Would recommend, even for a quick stay
