This was a highlight of our stay in the UK. The room far exceeded our expectations and to lie in bed with a view of the Castle Keep was amazing, as was breakfast served in the Great Hall

Durham Castle Reviews
How fabulous to stay in a castle! The room was large and comfortable and the shared bathrooms were clean and modern. There were a large choice of foods for breakfast, which was served in the great hall. They also include a free tour of the castle for those who stay. My only complaints are that the heavy doors banged loudly and the mattress was not very comfortable. Overall a good budget choice
A great location and good atmosphere. Helpful staff A lack of wifi rather lets it down ( this seems to be an issue at the moment for the whole of Durham University for guests.) The full breakfast only starts at 8am but a continental is available earlier
Really enjoyed the surroundings, the quality of the room in terms of cleanliness, noise and views. Obviously the shared bathroom facilities may not appeal to everyone, but are of a high standard. It was a shame that the cooked breakfast I was promised and had paid for was not available on the day, however, as I was looking forward to it
We had a wonderful stay at Durham Castle and would recommend anyone try this if they have the opportunity. The Staff were very helpful and friendly, Breakfast in the Great Hall is something to experience and the view from our room is to be savoured. Even the wind that buffeted the castle on our first day added to the experience, can't praise this place enough
