We spent 3 days in London. Great situation close to the subway and many places to visit only walking a few minutes from the hostel. The worst aspect was that there was only a small wc in service for the entire floor and there was always queue to use it...

If you have experience in backpack travel like I do, I pretty much know what to expect, know my acceptable limits, and what you are buying. Barkston rooms offers a place to sleep which is always clean, the showers mostly hot, the toilets usually tidy. As always, you can't choose your dormitory occupants and if snoring and smells are your dislike then go with a private room. One thing that has changed in London backpacking culture since the late nineties is that the occupancy has shifted from young & happy Aussie backpackers, to eastern European backpackers. But Barkston rooms is doing great to keep itself clean and tidy, it does it better than 90% of other hostels. So my respect to Barkston Rooms staff, they have good management.

My booking was easy to make with a small deposit. I paid the remainder on arrival. I've never stayed in a hostel before and was pleasantly surprised. Basic but clean and made a 3-night stay in central London to attend a training event affordable. Other guests were nice, tourists here to visit London's famous sites. I slept well (with ear plugs); I will book to stay here again - thank you :-)

I did enjoy my stay, good location convenient for tube and bus travel into the city. There was no mirror in each bathroom in the apartment block. Neighbours in the adjoining residential block kept knocking the wall when conversation was made between persons in our room. At one point they came round to tell us to keep the noise down, personally I did not think it was loud. The walls must be very thin between the houses. Overall the Barkston Rooms accomodation for the price was very good.
