A great place to stay if you're on a budget. The location is better than many 5 star hotels if you're interested (as I was) in being close to the Globe, the Tate Modern and the National Theatre and South bank area. It's only 10 min walk to Southwark and London Bridge Tube stops, so it's quite convenient. The breakfast is huge: 6pcs, and unlimited toast and juice. I used to skip lunch after a meal like that. The rooms were small, but included a desk, and were well-ventilated. I've read some complaints from other writers about the mattress being too soft and all I can say is that this is a good deal for the price. It is not a 3 star hotel, but a student residence turned into summer accommodation like other student residences in London and far better than a stay at one of the London hostels . Unlike a hostel, one had 24-hour access to the place. You were also able to leave luggage for a few hours as well though this is not noted on the website. The only drawback is limited computer access, no wifi. However, there is a coffee shop half a block away, or you can go to the John Harvard library (10 min) and register for 40min computer access

We were 4 adults in one room and we stayed fine! the breakfast is plentiful and varied for all types of cultures and nationalities. Is a bit far from the metro but easy to reach by public transport. If one day I return to London I would book Bankside House again willingly

Great place to stay in central London, cheap, clean and good value breakfast, no frills but who wants them? Good disabled access and everyone is friendly and helpful. Can be noisy at night out front with school groups leaving in the early hours but take ear plugs and you will be fine. Definitely will book Bankside House again

We had an enjoyable stay at Bankside House with good value for money. The rooms were clean, the bathroom ok. A pity that you couldn't open the windows properly during the spell of very hot weather in London. The breakfast also was very nice.

Excellent position and welcoming staff. Room fine, but the non drinkable water was disconcerting to say the least - irritating to have to remember that bottles needed to be filled. Something you normally only need to contend with in developing counties. Please, either agree with the water authorities that water out of a tank is safe to drink or install appropriate pumps etc like every other building in London. Breakfast good and welcome before a hard day's walking

For my wife and I, we enjoyed staying at Bankside House very much, easy access to major visitor venues, rooms clean, staff polite and helpful, were able to leave luggage for the day after checking out. Very good breakfast. Costs-very cheap for London city centre. Will advise others too

Exceptional value and location. Spacious clean room. A washbasin would have been nice and wi-fi a bonus
