Reviews : Good
By Julia (18 Apr 2008)
Generator is a very social hostel with a cheap bar. Rooms were ok, clean linen etc. Bathrooms were not brilliant but besides that nothing really to complain about. Free breakfast was good, choice between cereals and toast. Food at the canteen was very cheap and good. The Generator is a hostel so don't expect any miracles, but it's a fun place to stay if you like parties and want to meet a lot of people.

We were a group of 27 people, and we were very happy to stay at the Generator. It is very convenient, being between St Pancras station and the Bristish Museum. Very nice welcome and very large rooms downstairs for the students. Good breakfast. Only some bathrooms were out of order and the twins are not so big. But we enjoyed it a lot, and would definately reccommend the Generator it for individuals or groups

We had a great time at the Generator Hostel. It was clean, no problem with the facilities, the bathrooms were always clean as well (but one bench was not enough to put our stuff while 6 persons shower at the same time), we always had hot water, the breakfeast was good and simple (kellog's, milk, coffee, tea, toasts, jam, juices). Really it was all right. My dorm room didnt smell so great though...maybe because I booked a 14 person dorm room! The location is GREAT, very close to Russell Station but we can also walk to the center (10-15 minutes).

I came down to Generator Hostel for a gig with a very large group. I absoultely love The Generator, will be coming back and would recommend it to any fun loving young traveller, or anyone looking for meeting new people and having a great time. Great bar, great staff, great location. Bear in mind though that in the summer the rooms can get very hot!

I worked and lived at the Generator for 4 months during the middle of last year and loved it! It will always be in my fond memories of London and I have since recommended it to sooo many people. Please trust me, it is the BEST place to stay in London budget wise and fun wise. The guys that work in the bar will guarantee you wont leave (literally cos usually u can stand up at the end of the nite to walk out ;-) )

The Generator Hostel ROCKS mate!! A hostel I find myself in everytime I set foot in london and once your there it's hard to get out of the place!! The Generator has it's own bar which often has theme nights and wacky comps and the drinks are cheaper here then alot of pubs and clubs around London. You get a real mixture of different people here, which is good and bad but your guranteed to have a good time. The Generator staff too are pretty awesome, a little flirtacious, but down-to-earth and they're VERY helpful, look out for Cameron at the front door he's a legend and will help you with anything!! And for the blokes, this hostel is great for scoring a bird for the night! Location is also good, just near the Russell square metro and Kings cross station, and within easy walking distance of British museum and Oxford st. It's a big place and a little rough around the edges, compromised in some places but the cool atmosphere more than makes up for it.

Having stayed at the Generator in Berlin for several weeks a couple of years ago, it seemed obvious to book into London when we needed somewhere to crash after a gig. The central location was great, and even though we were only there for a night, it was obvious that the atmosphere at the London Generator was open and friendly. Will definetly be back to stay whilst I'm travelling next year.Comfortable, clean, and with the best facilities I've ever known in a hostel.

This Generator place is f****** excellent!I was staying there on my own and still had a great time on account of the exceptionally friendly staff and great atmosphere in this place. Can't rate it highly enough, in fact i plan to go back in september. AWESOME!

I stayed in the Generator in the summer of '02 and the summer of '03. It was such a great place to stay! Much cleaner then other hostels, the showers even had hot water for a change! The bar was great, the location was great, and it awesome to meet people from all over the world. I definately want to come back this summer!

I am annoyed because we spent 2 nights and it was all problems... and the staff never said sorry to us. Incredible!!!! Please take this note seriously. The Kaos was here...

I had a blast at Generator Hostel! I would give it 3 stars out of 4 for cleanliness. Party atmosphere for sure & Friendly people. I would definatley recommend it. There is one in Berlin, Germany as well - even nicer!!

This hostel is slightly tricky to find but once familiar with the surrounds, it is actually not far from the tube station and the British Museum. Apparantly some parts of the hostel can be noisy but my room on level 0 is quiet, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was superb.

I went there 2 years ago, and it was really great. I had a lot of fun. It looks fantastic. Everything the youth desires. I'll be back in february. Beware... :-)

The Generator Hostel is really a great place to be in London. Very central position, close to tube station. Friendly staff, clean rooms, lots of facilities (inside and outside the hostel), great pub/bar :-P I'd reccomend it to my best friend

The Generator was the perfect place to stay. It met my budget as well as meeting my standards for room accesories. Great parties at the bar each night too. no negative points at all!!
By Hanny Luhtasela (9 Apr 2004)
The Generator hostel had a very comfortable atmosphere, and the staff was great. The rooms were simple, but very safe. No disturbing noises or smoking were allowed in the rooms, so it was easy to have a good night's sleep. I recommend it warmly. H:)
