St Aidan's College

St Aidan's College, fifteen minutes walk from Durham city centre, is normally occupied by students of the University of Durham during term time. When they have gone home, between June and September and in the month of December, you can book an affordable and comfy room to act as the perfect base to explore Durham and beyond. Each room is neutrally decorated and simply furnished. Depending upon your budget, you can stay in a room with a private bathroom or a cheaper one with shared facilities.

As St Aidan's College is just outside the hustle and bustle of Durham city centre, you will be able to relax in the peaceful surroundings of the halls, many of which are surrounded by pretty landscaped gardens. You will also find that St Aidan’s College boasts a number of amenities for your enjoyment, including a well-stocked affordable bar, TV rooms and games rooms. These give you plenty of opportunities to meet the other students, backpackers and budget business travellers that stay here.

Attractions

St Aidan's College occupies an envious position just five minutes walk from the beautiful Botanical Gardens and the Oriental Museum. You will be able to walk to Durham town centre within fifteen minutes, where you can stop to explore the 900 year old Durham Cathedral, which is one of the most attractive buildings in England, and nearby Durham Castle. There’s a wide range of shops and popular pubs in the town centre too. You should also visit the North of England’s open air museum in nearby Beamish.

Simple but very acceptable accommodation. In exactly the right location for our purpose. No TV which we missed slightly, but clean and comfortable . Breakfast was not to be faulted in any way, even supplied gluten free rolls

Clean, basic rooms, nice hot showers available across the corridor. Excellent welcome from receptionist and porter, who arranged for us to be able to watch the football on the TV. Breakfast was also fantastic, all in all a very good stay at St Aidan's College

We found the staff at St Aidan's College very helpful. The accommodation and breakfast were both good and represented excellent value. The location is a little way from the centre, but is a very pleasant walk

Very good overall, especially the people we came into contact with. Everyone extremely helpful. However, the mattresses have definitely seen better days. Time for new ones if we were to consider coming back to St Aidan's College. Also I had a duvet which was very thin and not up to the job. Breakfast excellent
