A typical double room at the Golden Star Hotel
 |
 |
Golden Star Hotel in London is in the process of improving some of the rooms, and most rooms (single, doubles, twins and triples) have private bathrooms, so you won't have to worry about sharing facilities with other guests. Inside your basic room you won't find many facilities, but if all you are looking for is a very basic private room in Victoria, then consider Golden Star Hotel. Most rooms contain coffee / tea making equipment at your disposal, and a colour TV to watch after days spent sightseeing. |

The location of the Golden Star is very good, at 8 minutes to Victoria Station. The room was very small and tight but it was OK for two people. We got a room in the basement at first. It was very noisy due to a warm water tank, so we asked the hotel owner for another room, which we were given. Our new room was in another building so I couldn't see inside the hotel. The hotel owner and her small crew were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was delivered to the room and it was OK. Our bedding was not changed but the room was cleaned every day. Shower was warm, toilet was OK. Though there was a new TV in the room, it didn't work. We stayed for 4 nights. As it was a budget hotel we really have no complains.

I stayed at the Golden Star Hotel for 7 days. It's a good place for those, who don't plan to spend majority of the time in the room. It's a perfect place just to sleep, have a shower, eat breakfast and leave the room. It's not expensive so if you don't expect luxury it's for you. The room was small with a very small bathroom. The walls and the carpet need to be cleaned. But they made the bed every day and even changed the bedding once during our stay. For breakfast each day you got toast, butter, jam, tea with milk and eggs. I can honestly say that I would come back there, because it's a good price for the location in central London

If youre looking for a bed, hot shower and toilet for the night look now further. If you want more the keep on searching. Very low budget - it served its purpose for me

I and two of my friends stayed in London for 5 nights from 10 to 15 August. The room was really basic, but at least the bathroom and the sheets were clean

On arrival everything seemed ok for a budget hotel. No reception, just ring the bell and someone will come. 3 out of the 4 nights we were there, there was no hot water. We kept asking, and kept getting told it would be hot soon. However it never was. The hot water cylinder was in our room, and very noisy the first night, however quiet from there on in, (wonder why). The breakfast was essentially a waste of their time and ours. Seemed everyday a screwup. A cheap, safe, central hotel, with nothing else it to reccomend it. It also seems that not all 15 rooms are in the same building, rather an unusual setup. Think carefully before booking as it is a disaster waiting to happen
