The location is really good. The rooms are really really small, no lift, no heating system, was freezing cold during the night, the towels are tiny and very difficult to dry yourself with it, very noise because you can hear everything from the other rooms. Also during our stay the electricity broke down and we could not take a shower (we had the room with private bathroom), but there is just one sharing shower for 3 floors full of rooms.

Bed linen was clean. Shared kitchen is very basic - just a kettle and a microwave, there was no gas in the cook, so we could not cook, no hot water in the kitchen. There was just one shower, sometimes also without hot water. Staff was very helpful. Location is great. But probably would not book this hostel again, at least not before the refurbishment is finished.

No hot water. Spiders were in room. Rooms were disgusting.

It was everything I expected from a hostel in London in that price range. The room had bunk bed with clean sheets, the rest of the room was not very clean however. The only disappointing thing was that there was no warm water, not from the tap in the room, not in the shower

Was not impressed with Hostel 170. There are better hostels in Kings Cross

The room was fine, in the 2nd floor shower didn't work, but it did in the 1st one, small detail, the staff was very nice and they were keeping the place clean. To finish was close to the centre. I'll keep it in mind for the next holidays

Worst hostel i've stayed at; luckily only one night. Toilets didn't work properly, room door for my room could only be locked from outside; had to put stool and luggage in front of door at night. Although it was cheap when I booked it, but it was not good value for money.

We did not enjoy our stay in this hostel: the staff is grumpy/looking depressed, the building is in decay and rather looking like a 19th century building than a (cheap) hostel. The furnitures of our room were falling appart, the common areas were dirty. The building is fortunately under renovation, so the new rooms are fine but the others are not good.

I stayed here at Hostel 170 for 7 nights. I spent most of the time out of the hostel on a course however the beds were comfortable. The room was in the basement and there was a lot of street noise but other than that not too bad. The only down side was that the only hot shower was up on the 3rd floor and there was only one. From taking to the staff (who were friendly and helpful) they were still renovating the premises which could account for some of the issues raised

It's certainly cheap - you 'll be saving money but is it worth it? The walls are VERY thin! We could hear everything from other guests, to the road outside even to the office next door. There seemed to be only one shower and not enough toilets. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and because we were only there for a few our to sleep it could have been worth. Invest in some good earplugs though!
