Room smelt of sewage when window was open - quite revolting. I would not stay here again, as I didn't enjoy my stay due to the smell

Glendale Hyde Park Hotel was fabulous!! Quiet (albeit very very small) room, spotlessly clean, staff extraordinarily friendly. Good and centrally located. We felt perfectly at home and would book again for our next time! Thanks for all!

Very good hotel with very friendly staff. Lovely room (I even had a double bed when I asked for a single). Very nice breakfast (plenty of) plus when we had to check out, we had somewhere to put our luggage while we went sightseeing. Also not far from the station at all! I am giving a 4/5 as the shower was a little bit faulty (did still have a lovely shower though) and the TV did not work. But overall a very good stay!

My room was extremely small but nice, clean and modern. I want to thank the reception who was very helpful. The brekfast as usual in London, toast and coffee. Greetings from a satisfied Swede

Unfortunately I am unable to give the Glendale Hyde Park Hotel a good review! After having to climb the 77 steps up to our room, we were disappointed by the state of the bedroom and bathroom. There was a safety deposit box and an old fridge, however, as these took up most of the sparse wardrobe space, there was not enough length to hang up our coats, and these spent the night on the floor. The curtains were hung away from the window, approximately 10 inches away, and therefore did nothing to keep the heat in or the daylight out. The bed cover had human hairs on it, which were certainly not mine nor my partners. I am glad that we were only to due to stay one night, as the bathroom left a lot to be desired. There was no plug in the basin and a lot of the grouting on the floor was missing, leaving a wonderful breeding ground for germs. The shower cubicle looked disgusting, the tiles were all marked and the grime around the shower doors was awful. The toilet had a mind of its own and did not always stop flushing! I was not expecting great luxury but I was expecting a little general cleanliness!

There was no window in the room, which was pretty bad, especially as there was no warning about it beforehand. A charge was added for paying by credit card. again, no warning of it was shown prior to booking (as I could have used debit card instead). At the Glendale Hyde Park Hotel, credit card payments were also charged at 3%, and for some services staff demanded cash only. The receptionist demanded to see my ID (passport or driving licence) and took a photocopy. Again, no warning about it was given beforehand. I happened to have my passport with me but otherwise I could have been left out in the street, while the hotel would still have collected my payment from my credit card. I think this is pretty bad, considering the fact that they already had my credit card details, given at the time of booking, so why did they demand my passport? If they want to see IDs, they should warn about it before the booking. Overall I didn't have a good feel about the hotel, but my room was reasonably quiet. So some of the lights in the room weren't working, there was no milk provided in the room for tea. All the spaces were tiny, including the breakfast room, which only has 6 chairs. Other guests have to take their breakfast outside into the yard, into the cold. So I hope that I won't have to book there again.
