The Mayor's Thames Festival

The Mayor's Thames Festival marks the official end to summer in London and you can't miss out on all the free events going on along the river.
From having hosted the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics, we're going to need a big send-off to the summer of 2012 and this celebration of the Thames is needed too.

The river will have hosted thousands of boats during the Queen's Jubilee Pageant and been the location of the BT River of Music during the Cultural Olympics.

You'll find loads to see and do at London's largest outdoor arts festival, with live music, dance, art installations, a night carnival, river races and mountains of food stalls, it's a great way to see the river and the South Bank.

And it all ends with a huge fireworks finale for the ultimate goodbye to summer!

When and where:

This year's festival runs from September 8th-9th and is totally free. You'll find events throughout Central London along the river, so check the website to see which tube station to head to.
