Where to Stay in London

Budget-savvy travellers might find that their best bet is finding accommodation in West London, such as Bayswater, but some people might find that this loses some of the flair of the exhilarating nightlife of the centre.

What is worth remembering is the different types of places to stay, from a cheap hostel, which can cost around £7 a night, to a slightly more expensive bed and breakfast from £12 or hotels, which can range from £40 to well into the hundreds.

These prices will also change depending on the season. Expect anywhere to increase their rates during the summer months and at Christmas, while they might slash their costs in January.

Paddington and Bayswater

This area is known to be quite a good discount hotel area for young budget travellers.

You can find that rooms start from £6.99 per person at the Hyde Park Hostel, while your stay might be more comfortable at Hyde Park Towers Hotel, where per person prices are from £30 a night.

Anywhere near here is within walking distance of the Oxford Street shopping district, Hyde Park and Princess Diana's old residence Kensington Palace.

Paddington hotels are a great location for people heading off to the airport on the Heathrow Express.

While Ilford might seem far away, the 25 bus route takes just over half an hour to get into Holborn and 40 minutes right into Oxford Street.

Closer to central London is the Sacred Heart Lodge in Hackney, a trendy part of the world, where rooms start at £22.40 per person.

As you get towards the south-east, you can find some bargain hotel rooms and the area is still easily accessible to central London on the tube.
