Smithy Andrews Hostel combines a village location in picturesque Monkton with
close proximity to Glasgow’s Prestwick Airport, just a three minute taxi journey
away. Formerly a blacksmith’s forge and stable in the eighteenth-century, the
buildings have been converted into a bed and breakfast (The Wee Hoosie, next
door) and a hostel room. The owners refer to the magic space of Smithy Andrews
Hostel as an ‘Aladdin’s Cave’, thanks to the mementos you will find there of its
former use as a forge!

There are lots of optional extras available at Smithy Andrews Hostel – you can
reserve a Scottish welcome tray, cooked breakfast or evening meal as well as a
story telling adventure or an excursion (all for a fee). The four-bedded
dormitory room is ideal for a family or group of friends and has a shared
bathroom and kitchen at either end of the dorm room. There is also a relaxing
area with record player and records as well as a large garden, which is
accessible through the stable door. |

Smithy Andrews Hostel is very convenient if you’re flying into or out of
Prestwick Airport, as it’s only a three minute taxi ride away. The historic city
of Glasgow is also within an easy car journey, and the hostel is easily
accessible by car as it’s located just off the A77 motorway. There are lots of
areas to which you can drive during your stay, including Scotland’s beautiful
West Coast – you could visit Arran and the Mull of Kintyre, or charming seaside
villages such as Ayr, Troon and Prestwick. |
