Very large and nicely furnished rooms with HDTV and a roomy shower. The beds may be a bit soft for some people's tastes, though. The building is currently under heavy construction, but the reception, hall and lower rooms were all perfectly clean and the noise kept to a minimum. We had to pay significantly more for the extra day (a bank holiday) we extended our booking on a short notice, but the low price on the TravelStay booking was a complete steal for the quality we got and easily made up for it.

The best thing about the Piries Hotel is its central location. It's easy to get to the airport and still easy to get into town. Everything else was pretty average but pretty much what we wanted

We spent two nights at Piries Hotel in March 2009. The location allows for good restaurant selection, easy bus connections, and is close enough that taxi from the Royal Mile is cheap. I booked two rooms- neither had a working shower - no cold water in either tub, no mount for the shower head. It was clean, comfortable, and warm. Service and breakfast were good. Parking is a bit problematic, but is so for most of Edinburgh.

Me and my partner stayed in this hotel for two nights over the Valentines weekend. I was concerned after all the apparent mixed reviews I read but honestly there was little to fault considering how much we paid! Our room was very large, I booked a double and our room had a king and three singles which was odd haha. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean (and cleaned while we stayed) and had good facilities (tea/coffee, TV etc). The decor was a bit shabby but went with the hotel (converted from several old houses?) and nothing remotely bad about it either. The bathroom was also very clean and we got plenty of towels and everything was fine. The staff were very very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The location is good in terms of walking to the main attractions and I would stay here again if I visited Edinburgh. It was nice to have a room that was comfortable to come back to as opposed to one to leave our things (I'm a student haha).

We stayed at the Piries 6 - 8th December, I had booked it for my partner’s birthday and had organised a bottle of champagne to be in the room upon arrival. The room itself was clean and very large, there was one double bed which to be honest was a king-size bed, and 2 other single beds in the room. It was comfortable and the reception staff were very friendly. If there was one small downfall it was the parking, but I managed to find a space on arrival right outside at 2.30pm on the Saturday and the traffic warden said we were okay there, but would have to pay to leave it there as it was before 6.30pm, that was 2.00 per hour, so it cost 8.00, but I didn't mind as I knew the car was safe outside the hotel until Monday morning. The hotel is within such an easy walking distance into Rose Street, Princess Street etc. and I would definitely book this hotel again.
