High Street Hostel

High Street Hostel has a great reputation for being one of Edinburgh’s most atmospheric hostels. If you want to stay in this historic building that was built in 1564 and was once inhabited by the Earl of Morton, you should book yourself a bed before it’s too late! You’ll be staying just off the Royal Mile in historic Old Town, surrounded by vibrant bars and tourist attractions, so it’s lucky that there’s no curfew here! The hostel’s free tours of Old Town will help you find your way around.

The shared dorm rooms at High Street Hostel sleep from 4 to 16 people. The shared showers are always hot! You can cook in the large shared kitchen and eat in the dining room where you’ll find a pool table, juke box and nightly movie sessions. Nightly entertainment is also provided in the lounge. Other handy facilities include a small shop and tourist information at the 24 hour reception, a safe for your valuables, vending machines, luggage storage, a payphone and internet access (fee applies).

Attractions

When you’re not drinking your own body weight in alcohol in the bustling bars that surround High Street Hostel you should take time to sober up and head out to see some of the most famous sights in Edinburgh. You could spend days just on Royal Mile that connects Edinburgh Castle, which sits on an inactive volcano, with the royal palace of Holyrood House. Places that you should see on the way include the Camera Obscura, the famous closes of Old Town, the Museum of Childhood and Dynamic Earth.

I have stayed there for one night but it was quite fun, relaxing. It is really near the centre and it is quite cheap. I think you get the feedback of your money and even more.

I travelled with two lady friends and we had bad experience in a hostel of Glasgow. So when we had finished our trip to Skye, they were considering to give up the deposit and switch to a hotel or something. But after checking through the condition of the High Street Hostel, they thought it's fine. Hooray anyway, High Street Hostel rescued me.
