I brought a group of five with representatives from Egypt, China, Taiwan and Denmark. We stayed in the Old Gym. To be honest, for what was billed as 3* BnB, my colleagues were disappounted. I pointed out that this was cheap, university hall type BnB but one of the gorup said it felt lie a prison. The breakfast etc were excellent as was the friendliness of the staff. The context and overall location are also excellent. So is the quality of the actual room fittings and the overall 'feel' of the accommodation block which received a poor review from my group

Very poor room in poorly kept building (above the gym?). Cracks in wall. Flood in toilet. Broken window

A very plesant stay in lovely surroundings, the area was beautiful and the river walk was great too, it helped that the weather was great. Altough initially not too keen on the idea of shared bathroom and toilet facilities, it's not too bad really. It was also much quieter than I expected and the staff are friendly, helpful and relaxed.

I expected it to be basic, being student accommodation, but blimey! Bed more like a hammock. Unpleasant things stuck on walls. Had to try and find toilet/shower myself along corridor. No signs. Bathroom stank. No indication as to where to meet in event of a fire. Probably illegal. Good breakfast though

The accommodation was, for the most part, fine, if rather spartan! The bed was comfortable. The staff on reception were exceptionally helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was delicious and again, the staff superb. My only suggestion would be to give directions from the railway station to the bus station, and from the bus station to the college

It was a clean bright room; towels were changed regularly. The staff were very helpful and very pleasant. The dining room (once I found it) was fine; I didn't have the cooked breakfasts, but the staff were very attentive. Downside: The pantry was smelly and the microwave needed cleaning

The accommodation serves my purpose adequately. The major problem was the fact that the night porter started moving linen on a 3 wheeled trolley up and down the stairs outside my room at 3am - thump thump thump. Then, at the same time, 3am, Chris Moyles, student president, started having a discussion with said porter at the the top of his voice. He seemed quite astonished to be told off for being so inconsiderate

Room was clean and well kept, staff were very friendly and helpful, queries answered easily, phone answered promptly, good breakfast selection, all in all very impressed especially for the price when compared with other accommodation in Durham that I looked into. I would use this accommodation again. Thanks very much. Only thing I would say is to note that the kettle is in the pantry as I totally missed it the night I stayed and only found it noseying around the next morning as I was about to leave.

Room and food OK. But it was difficult to find were breakfast was! As the map we were given appeared to point to the wrong door! And once in the building there were no further notices pointing to were the meal was
