This was the second time I stayed at Amhurst Hotel. I stayed in the same room as before for 2 nights and it was good. My room was clean and warm, and internet was fast (essential as I had coursework deadlines)! Bathroom was clean and shower was warm (v.important as I hate cold showers especially in this weather)! Just no complaints. As I said in my last review, you can't expect to stay in a palace for £25 a night in East London but this place is definitely the next best thing. The bus links are great from here for getting to other parts of East London or into the centre, plus there are loads of places nearby to get cheap food :)

:) I booked a single room for £25 for the night, and for East London, that ain't bad. The rooms are basic but they are clean, bedding was clean, towels were clean, sink was clean and communal bathroom was freshly cleaned when I arrived around 1400 hours so no complaints on that front. My room was warm and, importantly, the showers are warm as well! The bathrooms are communal for the single rooms so flip flops are a must for walking from the room to the bathroom and back. When you arrive, the owner gives you the passwords for the front door and wi-fi. You have free use of the kitchen if you need it although there's a fridge and kettle in the bedroom anyway. I know East London really well as I lived in Shadwell (a bus ride away) until quite recently. The guest house is in Stamford Hill area of Hackney which is actually quite a nice part of Hackney. Amhurst Park is a main route with the nearest bus stop about 1-2 minutes from the front door so it is convenient and safe to get to. There are loads of shops and takeaways at Stamford Hill Broadway, one bus stop or a 5 minute walk away so it's easy to get food. The nearby Somerfield is reasonably priced and you can take advantage of the daily reductions if you go around 1800 hours or after! I liked the cat as well. I think so long as you don't expect a palace this is a great budget place to stay in East London. I didn't have any complaints, Sam :)

I have stayed in many places in London, basically trying to find a balance between quality and price and location. I think I have found it! The Amhurst Hotel was a bit further out than I would have liked but has really good tube and bus links so it was really easy to get around. Definately coming back

We truely enjoyed our stay at the Amhurst Hotel. It wasn't luxury but it was warm and the people who work there seemed to be very friendly. I would definitely recommend it to friends who need somewhere cheap but decent to stay

A no fuss accommodation, you can come and go as you like which was appreciated.. really an okay place that is better suited for people like me and my friends who are young travelling. I'm not to recommend for older people. I don't think it was very clean but it's not really dirty either. It was a pleasant stay
