Was made to feel welcomed, but was extremely disappointed with the accomodation we were allocated.
We were placed in the B complex across the road from the hotel, the room was very basic, and there was evidence of damp coming through on the ceiling. The curtain in the main room was held up with string!!! The bathrooom facilities were poor with evidence of mould in the shower cubicle.
The postive side was that the hotel was closed to the Turnpike underground station so quick access into the centre of London.

A nice room which allowed us a comfortable stay.

My partner and I were both a little upset that our room was not part of the main hotel building, as we felt this compromised the security of our belongings.

Certain things within the room were a little worrying - the state of the electric plugs and the sturdiness of sink and toilet being some examples. The bed was also in need of some attention...

That said, these complaints are rather minor and should be overlooked when considering the price that we paid. Other good things of note: the hotel is within five minutes walk of Turnpike Lane tube and bus stations, and is only ten minutes away from a decent set of shops in Wood Green. The staff are friendly (although I would advise that when speaking to each other they speak English - it is unnerving to watch two people converse in their own language when the subject is clearly yourself). I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable no-frills (and especially cheap) hotel.

Absolutely disgusted!! Room filthy and changed to another room which was also very poor. I took photos but to be honest cant even be bothered to think about it anymore as sooo disappointed. Planned our 2 night trip to london several months ago and was so looking forward to it. Had to pay on arrival which next time i will ensure i check the room first. Dusty room, old drinks in the fridge, tv off the wall on the floor, previous guests old soap, i could go on.

Very friendly staff. The room was of surprisingly good quality and size, particularly for the price. The bathroom stayed a little moist and there are a lot of police sirens flying by in that part of town but all in all the hotel was excellent.

Nice stay. Very helpful staff. The staircase is a bit small for us to carry our big luggage bags up but luckily there were staff who helped us

The Athena Palace Hotel is a nice place to stay in London - even for a long stay.

Athena Hotel is just the place you would love to stay in for your short period of stay in London. Nice newly furnished rooms, with LCD TVs, and Internet access in your own room if you have a laptop. Wondersfull and amazing customer service - all the guys there are trying their best to make you smile! :) The hotel manager is an amazing person who just would help you before you even think you want help. I would definately reccommend to book the Athena Palace Hotel, it meant I had a truly fantastic time in London!

Athena Palace Hotel is excellent value for money! Given that hostels normally charge around 20 pounds a night, for around 35 pounds you get a large and very clean private room with a private bathroom. My single room even included a double bed, TV, dining table, stove, oven and washing machine! The only downside is that they sometimes lack attention to detail, eg there were no hangers in the cupboard, and there were no pots and pans supplied. Also, breakfast starts at 9am, which was too late for me. The reception also closes at around 9 or 10pm at night.
That said, it's a very convenient location. Even though it is in zone 3, there is a bus stop right outside, and the tube is a short walk away. It only takes around 20 mins on the tube directly to Covent Garden, Leicester Square or Piccadilly Circus on the Piccadilly line. Overall, I had a great experience staying there and I'd book the Athena Palace hotel again when I come to London.
