The London Olympics isn't just about sport! Head to the capital for the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad, the largest cultural celebration in the history of the modern Olympics.
You'll find hundreds of free concerts, exhibitions, outdoor spectaculars and much more as part of the London 2012 Festival.
When and where:
A definite highlight of the festival is the BT River of Music on July 21st-22nd, featuring a variety of free music at landmarks along the River Thames.
You'll see traditional music from Asia at Battersea Park, from the Americas at the Tower of London, from Africa at London Pleasure Gardens and home-grown talent at Trafalgar Square and Somerset House.
You do need a ticket for this event but it is free! Find the tube station closest to the stage you want to see, which are spread out across the north and south of the river.
