This year the Indian religious festival falls on November 13th and you can expect plenty of goings-on. Every year Trafalgar Square hosts a free event that is suitable for the entire family.
Festivities kick off in the afternoon with a giant food court serving vegetarian delicacies and free sarees are given on a first-come-first-served basis to get you in the mood for the celebrations.
Once your food has gone down the music starts up with Bollywood stars and London-based Bollywood dance companies, closing with devotional songs that focus on the meaning of the festival and marks the Hindu New Year.
