Fun in London this January 2013:
Major Mondays, West End
Start the week as you mean to continue by partying the night away in Ku Bar, nestled in London's West End. Major Mondays is the ideal club night for younger visitors to the city, with DJ P and guests dropping some of the best commercial pop, R&B, indie and Old School hits to set alight the dance floor. It's free entry, there are cheap drinks and it stays open until 03:00 GMT. What's more, you even get rewarded for requesting songs to be played.
Get on the club night's Facebook page, name a song you want to hear and then when it's played you can pick up a free shot.
Bird watching, Hampstead Heath
It may be a bit early for those who left when the lights came on at Ku Bar, but for a more holistic experience of London, you should head to Hampstead Heath at 10:00 on the morning of January 29th. There you can join others for an informal and friendly bird watching walk around the famous park in north London.
However, if there is inclement weather it may well be called off. The group meets at the Parliament Hill Cafe.
The Patient Paradox, Camden
There's no better setting for in-depth discussions than the pub, where minds can ponder everything from the tactical decisions of football managers to the very meaning of life. Skeptics in the Pub is an organisation that tries to facilitate these chats through hosting lectures on a variety of topics.
On January 30th Margaret McCartney will host a talk entitled The Patient Paradox, which will look at how pharmaceutical companies bend the truth, addressing the truth behind screening statistics and the evidence behind the hype. Head to The Monarch Bar in Camden at 19:30 to join the conversation.
Celebrating Muslim Cultures Across Europe, Whitechapel
Muslims are an important part of British culture, keeping our towns and cities vibrant and diverse. On January 31st, The Dash Cafe is hosting an evening of entertainment entitled Celebrating Muslim Cultures Across Europe to commemorate these communities that breathe life into the continent.
There will be film screenings, discussions led by some of the brightest thinkers and live music from two bands, the Fantazia Duo and Abdelkader Saadoun. The event will take place in the main space of the cafe, running from 19:30 until late.
