Gunnersbury Park

The land of Gunnersbury Park has been owned by powerful and influential people (and Hounslow Council) from the early Middle Ages, including the family of King Canute and the famous Rothschild Family, who sold the estate to the country in 1926 for the princely sum of £130,000. Houses built for them have since been repurposed into buildings such as the Gunnersbury Park Museum, and others and are undergoing redevelopment.

The park is a spacious area, particularly popular with runners due to its large perimeter and the fact that it’s largely flat. Over approximately 1300 acres, the park includes 36 football pitches, a museum, a boating pond, a dry lake (also undergoing redevelopment), a temple folly, tennis courts, an Orangery and a Victorian bath-house.
