Portobello Film Festival

Film lovers can get their dose of free cinema during September

London's biggest "filmatic free-for-all" takes place every year during September.

The Portobello Film Festival is a must for all film buffs, with work from up and coming talent alongside established directors on display.

Attracting over 15,000 visitors annually, the celebration of British cinema screens new shorts and features, cult movies and documentaries at various locations around Notting Hill's Portobello area.

Audiences can expect to see cutting edge cinema from some of the country's freshest new filmmakers and all submitted films will be entered into the UK's biggest independent film competition.

The Portobello Film Festival has grown to offer much more than simply a cinematographic experience.

Street musicians and circus acts appear throughout the event in the courtyard outside the cinema to Westbourne Studios and also in the park at Portobello Green over the course of the kids' weekend.

The event has long been used as a platform by various directors to launch their careers, with both Guy Ritchie and Shane Meadows among the many filmmakers to have showcased here before achieving global acclaim.
