Lord Mayor's Fireworks Display: Celebrate British tradition with a bang!

Each year people across the UK celebrate Bonfire Night on November 5th, when Guy Fawkes made the unsuccessful attempt to destroy the Houses of Parliament. And to mark the occasion, parks in London will come alight with bonfires and fireworks. The best of these is the Lord Mayor's Fireworks Display on November 12th, which will use more than half a tonne of fireworks, some shooting over 600ft in the air over the River Thames. However, you should be able to find firework displays in other places, including Victoria Park in London's East End.

Remembrance Day: Pay your respects

An event recognised across the world, Remembrance Day sees everyone pause for a two-minute silence wherever they are to remember the servicemen and women and civilians who have served and died in conflict. This takes place at 11am on November 11th and Remembrance Sunday also marks the occasion.

Members of the armed forces and royal dignitaries attend a service before heading to Whitehall, the site of the Cenotaph, where the Queen lays a wreath of poppies. Visitors wishing to pay their respects can head to Whitehall and watch the London event from the streets.
