Wimbledon Championships: Can Nadal do it again?

June in London means strawberries, cream and tennis, in other words the Wimbledon Championships. And part of the fun is getting tickets. Line up as early as possible in the morning for day passes and soak up the atmosphere at all courts apart from Court 1 and Centre Court, eating a picnic on Henman Hill (or Murray Mound). Or, if you're there really early, you could even pick up tickets to the big courts and watch champions Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams play for their title.

Trooping the Colour: See one of London's oldest royal traditions

The Trooping the Colour takes place once a year is a great thing to do in London if you are heading over to Buckingham Palace to soak up Britain's royal history. The event marks the sovereign's official birthday and sees troops from the Household Division march at Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall before the Queen inspects them. The troop's band also plays during the ceremony and the Queen then rides in a carriage back to the palace past huge crowds and the Royal Air Force flies past.

City of London Festival: Celebrate London during festival season

There are two major festivals that take place in London in June, celebrating London's vibrant mix of cultures and rich history. The City of London Festival puts on a programme of music, art, walks and talks, and this year special focus will be dedicated to the music of Australia and the South Pacific. See anything from contemporary music to recitals in The City's churches. Or, head over to the Greenwich and Docklands International Festival, which uses historic buildings to provide the backdrop for this event of theatre and music. And this year it will last an extra few days in honour of next year's Olympics, which will be held nearby.

West End Live: Find a music festival of any genre!

Whatever your music tastes you can find a London event in June that suits! West End Live is a hugely popular free weekend in Trafalgar Square where all the stars of Theatreland come out to perform songs from the musicals showing in the West End. While at the other end of the music spectrum, Hard Rock Calling takes place in Hyde Park, this year with Rod Stewart and Bon Jovi headlining. Also taking place this month is the Kew Music Festival, featuring outside performances of classical and jazz music. Phew!
