Description

The newly refurbished Royal Ettrick Hotel is set within the mature, leafy, Victorian suburbs to the south of Edinburgh city centre. This popular residential area has housed some of its most famous inhabitants, past and present including Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and John Napier, the inventor of the decimal point! Built in the 1860's as the grand home of a rich Edinburgh barrister, The Royal Ettrick remained a private residence until its conversion to a hotel during the 1940's.

I have stayed at this hotel several times before and have always found it to be satisfactory, this time was no different. The hotel is quiet and very comfortable with a pleasant dining area, lounge and bar. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Unfortunately our room wasn't that great this time but I was told "You only get what you pay for"
