Hendrix Exhibition

Visit the 'Hendrix in Britain' exhibition

Music fans staying in London have been given the opportunity to view a special area of musical history during September.

The curators of the Handel House Museum, dedicated to the 18th century composer George Fredric Handel, have opened the doors to their offices which were once home to legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

As part of the museum's 'Hendrix in Britain' exhibition, visitors will be able to wander through the entire site and fans will be able to tread the floors where Hendrix lived, played and wrote songs.

In addition, the museum will be running an exhibition dedicated to Hendrix, displaying artefacts from his life in London.

These include a cartoon self-portrait of the rocker, a velvet jacket once worn onstage, gig posters, handwritten lyrics and a custom-made left handed guitar.

Hendrix’s Flying V guitar is the one on which he performed some of his most incendiary tunes at the Isle Of Wight in 1970, less than three weeks before he died.

Handel House Museum is located on Brook Street and is within walking distance of Bond Street or Oxford Circus tube stations.

Tours of the house run until September 26th and cost £8. Tel: 020 7495 1685
