London galleries are another popular attraction for visitors and make for an enlightening day out.

The National Gallery (Trafalgar Square; Charing Cross), or the National Portrait Gallery around the corner (St Martin's Place; Charring Cross), will take up a day's sightseeing and are both well worth a visit.

Alternatively, the Tate Modern (Bankside; Southwark) and Tate Britain (Atterbury St; Pimlico) provide an insight into both modern art and the classics.
