City Continental London Kensington is brilliant for its location and friendly staff. It was fairly basic but all I wanted to do was see the sights and it was just around the corner from a Tube stop

I found the City Continental London Kensington fairly comfortable and basically matched what I was paying for. The room was small but comfortable and for the amount of time I spent in it, more than good enough

The hotel reception was impressive, and the staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Also the breakfast was very good with quite a lot of choice. The room was adequate and clean and there had been some attempt to make it modern but it was a bit shabby. The paintwork was scruffy and the carpet needed replacing, and also there was no bathroom shelf and some of the tiling had been bodged. There was enough hanging space in the wardrobe but no drawers anywhere to put small items - I had to leave them in my case. The bed was comfortable. I have stayed in budget hotels before (usually the Trebovir which is very stylish) but I found this hotel very noisy with doors constantly banging. I wouldn't stay there again

Good location as it is near to the Earls Court tube station. Nice and clean rooms. No English breakfast, but that's ok. Friendly staff at the reception

For a one night stay the hotel was okay, but I wouldn't recommend a longer stay. The room was very warm unless you kept the air con on constantly, and this was very noisy. The bath taps were covered in mould and looked as though they have never been cleaned. Also, there is a sign above the sink in the bathroom saying the water is not suitable for drinking, so to use the tea or coffee facilities or just have a drink in the room you have to buy bottled water. Also the staff seem quite unhelpful and not particularly friendly. Check in was not possible until after 2pm so we had to leave our luggage in a cupboard in the porch area of the hotel. Though there is a key to this, it was not kept locked so not very secure. On the up side, breakfast was great! One of the nicest continental breakfasts I've had with extras like hard boiled eggs and various cheeses
