I stayed in a single room at the Woodville Guesthouse twice recently while I was visiting London for work and it gives me great pleasure to recommend it to other travellers. First, the basic stuff: The bedroom was clean, warm, spacious and quiet, with a comfortable mattress. The rest of the house is likewise kept scrupulously clean, including the bathroom and the well-equipped kitchen. The guesthouse is situated in a quiet residential area very near to Walthamstow High Street, which has an excellent range of shops. The transport links are also marvellous, as it is situated close to the Tube, the overland and a bus network that serves a huge array of London destinations. These things alone would make the Woodville Guesthouse great value for money. However, what made my stay particularly enjoyable was the hospitality of James, the guesthouse owner, a larger-than-life character and one of the funniest people I've ever met. He creates a marvellous atmosphere so that you feel more that you are staying with good friends than renting a hotel room. On both nights of my latest stay he cooked huge amounts of delicious food and invited the guests to share it, and my second evening there (when I was too tired after work to go out) was one of my most enjoyable in recent memory - I had a fabulous time with James and the other guests eating, chatting and laughing so much that I cried. I liked it there so much that I'm considering going there to stay again just for fun. Which sounds a bit sad, but is true. In short, this place is a find. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed my stay at Woodville Guesthouse very much. It was more like visiting friends than staying in a hotel. The owner is keen to help you where ever he can and creates an atmosphere where you feel at home. Rooms small but clean and tidy as well as the bathroom, nice kitchen where you have the oppurtunity to meet your housemates. Great, friendly and cheap place

Woodville Guesthouse is quiet, clean and is shared with a small number of guests. The host does his job with passion and knows London very well and will do all he can so that you spend a good stay. I will come back the next time I visit London

A hidden gem that is sure to get my repeat custom. Rooms and facilities are comfortable, clean, safe, and spacious, with a nice bathroom and a nice shared kitchen. The manager is super friendly and welcoming, giving Woodville Guesthouse a very warm and home-like atmosphere. Excellent location - on a quiet street, but in a dynamic neighbourhood and only a quick walk away from the Victoria Line, which means that one can be in central London in 20-25 mins from stepping out of the door. I think Woodville punches above its weight - for me, it was a better total experience than many of the more expensive alternatives

I received a warm welcome to this guest house. The host is very hospitable and genial, and really makes you feel at home. The house is on a beautiful quiet street not far from public transport, and the self-catering facilities are handy. I would definitely recommend this gem of a place and have already booked my next visit

This is a very well kept hotel. The manager is very polite and happy to chat about anything with his guests. The use of kitchen was very useful. The communal areas (kitchen, bathroom, entrance halls) were kept clean and tidy as were the rooms. I stayed in a mixed dorm room and felt confident to leave my belongings there during the day as the manager was on site the whole time. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room to hang/ store clothes and items. The area is rather quiet but has easy access to local shops and a supermarket. The most important thing for my was the Blackhorse Road tube stop being a 10 minute walk from the guesthouse, and a 25ish journey on the Victoria line to Oxford Circus, very nifty! It is great value for money and I will definitely recommend to everyone. If I'm in London again, it will be my chosen place to stay! In short, I was very happy: it's clean, safe and close to great amenities

I was made very welcome, a clean and tidy house. For an older woman on her own I felt that there was care to make sure I was OK and that help was always to hand, I would be happy to return to Woodville. I believe it will improve as the owner puts his mark on it, Early days
