Although some reviews I had read were damning I took a chance. I am glad I did and have booked again. Staff were courteous, helpful and the room comfortable

Alliance House is a quiet and safe place for Central London in an unexpectedly beautiful and peaceful neighbourhood. The staff are really helpful and pleasant and they have security staff operating over night and at the weekend. I found my room very clean, fresh sheets and clean bathroom, and I was even provided with a towel, which I wasn't expecting. Although they do not have coat hangers in the rooms, one of the receptionists was very kind and gave me a couple to use for the duration of my stay. Another plus is the fact that there are kitchens at every floor, so you don't have to "travel" to cater for yourself. There's a wardrobe in the room, a bureau and a chair and Internet access as long as you bring your own laptop. The only thing I did not have was a TV set, but then again, you don't come to London to watch TV. I would recommend anyone to book a room here. And don't worry if the hot water tap on your sink doesn't work, they do have hot water: try your shower and you'll see

Alliance House met expectation. Room relatively clean. Communal kitchen area smelt and required attention (however was not used other than fridge). 1 towel provided for a week - no face wash cloth or bathmat. On the day that linen and towels were changed I returned to find my room left unlocked. Reception/Security staff could be friendlier and better informed (ie I had to ask 2 staff members regarding laundry facilities, after purchasing laundry card I had to walk 30 minutes to find the nearest internet cafe to load credit as staff were unable to assist - despite sitting behind a computer). Information on notice board regarding location of nearest internet cafe should also be updated - staff had no idea where they were located. Staff were also unable to offer suggestions regarding parking. After altering my return dates and extending my holiday I chose to stay elsewhere for the final nights

Alliance House is good for the money but expect basic facilities. Checking in was a little bit slow and I was asked for a passport which I wasn't told to bring. Luckily they were happy to take my driving license number instead. The location was good and the bus stop was only a 1 minute walk (if that) from the front of the building. The actual room was comfortable however I was only staying for one night. I wouldn't be happy staying there for a whole week or for a proper holiday. There was furniture to store clothes and bags. The en suite bath room was small and treated like a wet room. No shower curtain. 1 towel (either for hands or shower) was provided, along with soap, shampoo and shower gel. I would definitely go back again if I needed accommodation in that area. But like I said, not for a whole week. Probably 2 or 3 nights at the most

The receptionist at Alliance House was brilliant when checking in, really friendly and helpful. The room was nice - I think the flat was relatively empty. I only used the kitchen for storing food and that was clean enough. There were some quirky things with the room - very hot water comes out of the cold tap initially so you needed to let it run (which could be confusing). The toilet / shower room was a pod, which seemed to mean that everything got wet and the floor didn't dry, but that wasn't too much of a hassle. Bed was fine, but the 'hygienic' cover of the pillow was annoying as it stuck to your skin and the pillowcase never seemed to stay on it. Newington Green was a good location - great Turkish restaurants nearby and easy enough to get a fast Victoria Line into London once you walk to Canonbury Station, or other connections by bus

I recently stayed at Alliance House as I wanted somewhere private to stay for a few days while I was in London. I found Alliance House to be perfect for my needs. The room was very neat and tidy and private. The single bed was very comfortable and I got a few good night's rest. If I wanted to go into London, very frequent buses were on my doorstep and the Overground and tube weren't far away. I would definitely recommend staying at Alliance House

Room was quite cold with only a sheet and cover, but after arguing I was given a duvet. I also had to argue for coat hangers. The room was quite nice and the kitchen, but the bathroom was cramped and flooded with water every time I had a shower. The location and gardens were nice and the TV lounge.
