Regent Street Motor Show

Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd November 2013

Soho, London

  • Soho will be a hotbed of car enthusiasts on Saturday November 2nd when the Regent Street Motor Show takes over its namesake street in Soho to showcase 300 vehicles from 125 years of car history.

  • The earliest motors from the 19th century all the way to some of the more futuristic alternatives from the 21st will be on display across five distinct zones on Regent Street. One of which is a Best of British category that celebrates the cars of the Queen's reign over the last 60 years to coincide with her Diamond Jubilee. Regent Street will be closed for the duration of the event, which runs from 10:00 GMT to 16:00 GMT, and it is free to enter.

Bonfire Night Fireworks 2013

ATP World Tour Finals, O2 Arena

  • The ATP World Tour Finals are returning to the O2 Arena in Greenwich once again to conclude the 2013 tennis season. The unconventional tournament sees the world's best singles and doubles players battle it out in two groups of four where they each play one another. The top two players or pairs from each then go on to the knockout semi-finals and then the final, where the champion is decided.

  • Novak Djokovic defeated Swiss ace Roger Federer in the final last year to take his second ATP World Tour Finals title, while Britain's Andy Murray was knocked out in the semi-finals. It's a totally different experience from Wimbledon, with audiences in darkness watching the action on the lit up hard court – not one to miss.

Remembrance Sunday

  • Every year London marks the day that fighting concluded in the First World War on Remembrance Sunday with the Cenotaph Parade in Whitehall.

  • World War One famously came to an end on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, bringing closure to four years of appalling warfare during which millions of people lost their lives. This day is known as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day, and on the Sunday closest to it each year the capital is brought together in honour of those who have fought and lost their lives for their country.

  • This year sees Remembrance Day fall on Sunday November 10th, and the Cenotaph Parade, which is organised by the British Legion and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, will see the Queen lay a wreath of poppies on the Whitehall monument, while those in the services will perform a march past.

The London Festival of Magic

  • The enchanting world of magic is making its way to the capital in November for the London Festival of Magic.

  • Whether you are a fully-fledged magician hoping to learn some tips from the top, a firm fan wowed by the speed and sleight of hand of a skilled proponent of the trade or a casual follower who is happy to watch a performer in the streets, the London Festival of Magic provides fantastic, left-field entertainment to visitors to the capital this month.

  • Taking place between Monday November 11th and Friday November 15th, the festival has a huge range of events scheduled throughout each day of its duration at the Bridewell Theatre off Fleet Street. Whether your interests are cards and coins, mentalism or street and alfresco magic, there is a day to cater to your interests. There will be shows from great magicians, as well as presentation tips and advice for budding performers across the festival.

London Jazz Festival

Friday 15th to Sunday 24th November 2013

  • This year marks the 21st edition of the London Jazz Festival, bringing the biggest and best names in modern jazz to various venues throughout London.

  • What began as a modest soiree in Camden back in 1992 has grown each year to become "one of the best jazz festivals in the world", according to the Guardian. The ten-day celebration incorporates all different kinds of jazz in a wide array of venues in all shapes and sizes, from the Amersham Arms to the Royal Albert Hall.

  • Bold as Brass is one of the standout performances. The free event that takes place at the Southbank Centre sees 100 brass instrument players and percussionists of all ages and abilities come together under the tutelage of virtuoso saxophonist Jason Yarde for a specially commissioned work of a huge scale. Paolo Conte, meanwhile, is bringing his gravely croon and loose jazz feel, which blends tango, blues and balladry, to the Royal Festival Hall – a show that certainly shouldn't be missed.

Ideal Home Show at Christmas

Thanksgiving 2013

  • Whether you're an expat living in the UK or just a lover of all things American – why not commemorate Thanksgiving in London?

  • Taking place every year on the fourth Thursday of November, Thanksgiving is a time for Americans to traditionally give thanks to their harvest, with its roots firmly planted in cultural and religious history. To modern day Yanks, it mostly represents a culinary festival - a time to feast on roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and pumpkin pie.
