If you’re planning a trip to the historic city of York and want somewhere really affordable to stay you should try Wentworth College on the University of York campus. You’ll find it overlooking a picturesque lake in the landscaped grounds of the university campus in Heslington village. This is just two miles southeast of the city centre which is easy to get to on foot or by bus. 		Wentworth College is just 2 miles southeast of historic York city centre in the village of Heslington with lots of pubs you can walk to! The city centre of York has a vast array of tourist attractions for you to explore including York Minster (an imposing gothic cathedral), the Jorvik Viking Centre, Clifford’s Tower, the Castle Museum and the National Railway Museum. You can go on ghost walks, trips on the river Ouse or shopping for souvenirs in the excellent range of craft and gift shops.

		Check in from: 2 pm Check out by: 9.30 am If you will be requiring a late check in the porters lodge is open 24 hours a day. All rooms at Wentworth College are non smoking. If you require travel cots for young children these are provided upon request. You can park at Wentworth College. This is pay and display parking which costs £5 every 24 hours. Please note: For those of you arriving Sun-Thurs and having breakfast Mon-Fri, breakfast will be served in the Edge Cafe. For those of you arriving Fri-Sat and having breakfast Sat-Sun, Wentworth College will provide an express breakfast sent to your room.

Directions


	•	By Train	:	The closest railway station to Wentworth College is York Train Station. This is approximately 3 miles from the York University campus so you’d be wise to get a taxi or bus from here for the remainder of your journey.

	•	By Car	:	If you are travelling on the south or east sides of York take the A64. If you are travelling on the west or north sides of York take the A1237. Travel along the road until you reach the junction with Hull Road which is the A1079. From here on the University of York is clearly signposted so just follow the signs. Once you reach the campus in the village of Heslington, Wentworth College is clearly signposted from the roundabout in the middle of the campus.

	•	By Bus	:	When you arrive at York Train Station take the main exit and catch the number 4 bus from just outside the station. This will take you straight to the York University campus where Wentworth College is situated. It departs every 10 minutes.

	•	On Foot	:	If you decide to walk from York city centre to Wentworth College you just need to follow the signs to Fulford and Heslington. As you get nearer the university campus, where Wentworth College is situated, is clearly signposted.

Very nice room ... cafe convenient... checking in on a Sunday ..would have been good to have pre-arranged internet and to have know where wireless was available.

Wentworth College was very good, the rooms were very comfortable with en-suite facilities and TV. There was an excellent choice at breakfast and all the staff were very helpful.
