Very pleasant. Good location, one street up from the beginning of the main shopping area. We had a lovely room with newly fixed up bathroom. Not much of a view, but that was not why we booked it. Breakfast was basic but good. Would absolutely return here again.
M Turley, Irish (13 December 08) 6/10
Warm and dry. Pretty central. Cheap and friendly.
Derrine Smith, UK (12 December 08) 7/10
Although in need of spruce up in places, my room was immaculate and the staff very friendly and helpful. Thank you.
Fisher, British (11 December 08) 5/10
Room a little depressing, but you only sleep in it. Good location, very handy for those nights out. Crap shower. Good service at breakfast, shame you don't get sausages, not even square ones. Parking could be a bit of an issue. Steps leading up to the building difficult for some. The building does have character though. I would go back if I couldn't get a Holiday Inn / Travel Lodge.
Carolyn Warholm, British (10 December 08) 5/10
Very central and good value. Rooms were clean but lighting rather dim and we had a couple of problems with heating and a water leak down the wall which dripped in the night! Breakfast good.
Christine Quinn, Scottish (06 December 08) 9/10
Very nice accommodation, breakfast was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful.

Rooms fairly clean but very scruffy. Noisy throuout the night - heating, guests, etc. Only soap in bathroom, no other items. Queue at check-in took 15 mins.

Mclays Guest House was clean and maintained to good standards. The room was pretty small though without much wardrobe space. The staff were friendly and helpful which is a plus point.

Hotel is clean although could do with the decor brightening in places - bedrooms ok though. Good value for money and ideally situated for both town centre and SECC which is what we were there for.
