Situated under the ramparts of the Castle, just yards from the start of Royal Mile, this large and lively cheap Edinburgh hostel has over 300 beds in bright, single sex dormitories (with central heating) that sleep from 4 to 16 people. These are filled with likeminded backpackers wanting to have just as much of a good time in Edinburgh as you do, so you’re bound to make friends staying here. A Typical Dorm Room at Castle Rock Hostel		As soon as you’ve settled into Castle Rock Hostel you should check out the facilities. There are plenty of hot showers, a large kitchen and a dining room. The posh lounge is a quiet place to relax. The other larger lounge with pool table and juke box is great for hanging out with other travellers. The TV room holds big screen movie nights you will enjoy. 		The crown of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, is yards away from Castle Rock Hostel. You can hang around to hear the One O’clock Gun or enter the castle to explore the National War Museum of Scotland and see the Honours of Scotland (Crown Jewels). Afterwards you could have a wee dram of whisky in the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre before discovering the rest of the Royal Mile. In the evenings you should head to the lively pubs of nearby Grassmarket, infamous for being a previous execution hotspot.

Directions


	•	By Train	:	To get to Castle Rock Hostel you should travel by Train to Waverley Train Station. You can walk from here to the hostel so follow the by foot directions below. Most of its uphill so you may want to take a taxi if your backpack is heavy!

	•	On Foot	:	Once you get to Waverley Train Station you should take the Market Street exit and turn to your right. Walk up the hill then turn left onto North Bank Street. At the end turn right onto Lawnmarket. When you reach the roundabout turn left into Johnston Terrace. You will find Castle Rock Hostel on your left.

It was a great stay at Castle Rock Hostel even though I didn't spend much time inside hostel. Comfy bed, reasonable clean toilet. Great location! Staffs were friendly. You have your own locker next to the bed. However you could possibly here ppl yelling down the street at night but it wasn't that loud to bother my sleep. Recommend to stay!
