On an autumnal twilight evening we arrived into the mountainous towers of high rise buildings surrounding the Hour Glass Hotel. This made the Hotel seem like a sanctuary as we got out the cab and made our way to the pub attached to the Hotel. The pub had an excellent atmosphere of real local London as we found the person we needed to help us with our keys and our bookings there. The guy who served us was super friendly and helpful as we had difficulties with our card exchange. After a bit of banter he showed us our beautiful room with on suite bathroom, fridge, tea and kettle and free biscuts. The room was perfect, clean and larger than expected as we dropped our bags and nestled in for the night. The next day we walked around the local park and lake on a winters sunshine day and found a wonderful cafe on Old Kent Road to have the best breakfast with the most wonderful guy serving us. After feeling like locals we made our way on a short trip into the city center to enjoy the wonderful sights of London. I would recommend The Hour Glass Hotel for its fair and reasonable price and friendly atmosphere and great staff. I would definately stay there again, and we did prolong our stay for an extra night as we liked it so much. The surroundings of the Hotel were also a pleasure to experience. 10 out of 10
